Residents of the quaint neighborhood easily access the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail. Part of a 22-mile corridor, the BeltLine connects to multi-use trails, transit, and public parks. Freedom Park crosses through Pouncey Highland, too. Trails and sidewalks lead to Little Five Points, Krog Street Market and other farmer’s markets. Facilities at Fourth Ward Park include an outdoor theater, a lake, skate park, playgrounds and fields as well as green space.
Neighborhood History
Named for Ponce de Leon Avenue and North Highland Avenue, Poncey Highland embodies a vibrant, chic spirit. It was established 1905-1930. The Carter Center and Jimmy Carter Presidential Library were established here near Interstate 485, Interstate 675, and Georgia 400 in 1982. Other buildings of most previous renditions of Ford Motor Company, Western Electric, Plaza Theater, Claremont Hotel and Briarcliff Plaza.
